Throwable Ball Camera May Revolutionize How We Watch Sports

Written by: Max Thompson, Eric Adelson

We have the goal cam, the field cam, and the helmet cam. But the best may be still to come: the ball camera and an Internet Marketing campaign for the ages.

An initial prototype of the Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera has been developed by Jonas Pfeil, Kristian Hildebrand, Carsten Gremzow, Bernd Bickel and Marc Alexa while they were in a Cisco training class at www.learnit.com/cisco. Consisting of 36 mobile phone cameras and a layer of advanced protective foam, a simple toss in the air gives breathtaking perspective to a ball’s flight.

It’s not hard to see potential in the sporting arena. What if this sort of camera was mounted inside the balls we use on the field in professional sports?

Can you imagine seeing Santonio Holmes’ Super Bowl-winning catch against the Cardinals captured from the perspective of the ball, surrounded by a packed… Continue reading

Do Dedicated Servers Provide A Better Service

If you’re thinking of creating a large website, you may wonder whether going for dedicated server hosting is the right solution for you. While there is no shortage of cheap shared hosting providers on the Internet, the services they provide will not be sufficient if you’re hosting a website that receives a huge amount of visitors each day or have a website that is very demanding for the server (like an e-commerce site).

Remember, if your website goes down, your business will grind to a screeching halt. Therefore, getting the best possible type of hosting is a necessity. Pay Per Cloud provides its clients with reliable managed dedicated servers. “Managed” means that you retain full freedom of choice related to the operating system, applications you run and the type of hardware you need, but the responsibility of maintaining and monitoring the servers remains with Pay Per Cloud.

Server administrators and… Continue reading

Keep Your Data Safe

Keeping your data safe means backing it up. If you have not backed up the data on any computer, whether it is a server or a workstation PC, you risk losing that data. This article summarizes various types of data backup. You can back up your data to either a hardware device or online with VaultScape.

Backing Up to a Hardware Device
For your home PC, you can back up data to either an external hard drive or to an internal optical drive. Most modern PCs contain internal optical drives that can read from and write to CDs and DVDs. An external hard drive has more than enough capacity to store your data backup. An internal optical drive lets you back up your data to an optical disc, such as a blank, writable DVD. Depending on how much data you need to back up, you might need many DVDs.… Continue reading

Those factors generally include: undercapitalization, lack of planning, no experience, insufficient education, loss of motivation beyond the idea stage, inability to understand the hiring process, unfamiliar with tax and legal issues affecting small business owners, trying to do it all yourself, not knowing when to get help and how to find quality coaching/mentoring resources.

What Is Next For Computers

computersThe Human Interface – How Will the Next Generation Computers and Phones Adapt to Us?

In a recent interview, Bill Gates was asked what the next big thing in computers and software might be. His answer was that it would be all about how humans interact with computers and other digital devices. Frankly, I am not sure what kind of interface I would want in my next computer and/or phone. I hate using my notebook computer’s keyboard and use a third party wireless keyboard and mouse in its place. The friendlier the device the happier I am. My cell is the old kind, so if you send me a text message, don’t expect much of a response.

As you old time computer users know, before the graphical user interface and before the command line prompts on a video display became the norm, computer input consisted of batch files fed to… Continue reading

Below are what I came up with, and I’m sure as you read… Continue reading

-hearing over the phone
-hearing alarms and other alerts
-listening to the television, radio or other media
-hearing in academic, business or religious meetings

You could be a good candidate for an ALD! ALDs of all shapes, sizes, and cost brackets are available to help those with many ranges of hearing loss. Media, face-to-face/one-on-one/meetings, telephone, and alerting devices can all… Continue reading

In this modern age it seems that just about anything that can has “gone digital.” This includes common things from photographs to phone calls to music and much more. It is hard to dispute that “digital” is the in thing and one reason for this is that there are definite advantages to digital technology in most cases. In the realm of assistive listening devices, digital is also in and digital hearing aids are becoming the standard.

Digital hearing aids were first introduced to the marketplace over twenty years ago, in the early 1980s. However, they did not immediately gain in popularity, mainly because of their size and the fact that they were so easily seen while being worn, even more so than the traditional analogue, in the ear hearing aids.

Finding The Ideal Tech Support

tech supportWhat To Demand From An IT Technical Support Provider.

Finding the right people to maintain your IT infrastructure is essential to the efficient operation of your organization. There is no lack of technical support providers available to you, so how do you choose? Although it’s tempting to dismiss the problem with the belief that one provider is as good as another, in reality there are several critical characteristics you should insist on before contracting for IT services.

Single-Source Accountability

One truism when trying to get technical support is it’s always the other guy’s fault. The hardware vendor blames the operating system. The operating system maintenance staff blames the application. The application developer blames the hardware. No one takes responsibility, the problem doesn’t get solved and the customer gets lost in the shuffle. Modern IT infrastructure is complex and department managers don’t have time to spend days on the phone with… Continue reading

Part 1 – Overview of Cloud Computing

Although many conversations center around cloud computing, few of the participants can accurately describe basic questions, such as what is cloud computing and what are the benefits? Most people agree that cloud computing will become a vital part of how people do business. But the question is, how? In this three-part series, we will attempt to clear up common misconceptions about what cloud computing is, what it can do, what it may eventually encompass and who are the best Cloud Consultants.

Part One: What Is It?

In its simplest terms, cloud computing can be described as a way to house data and applications in remote central servers that can be accessed and updated by multiple users simultaneously. Essentially, a standard desktop or laptop computer becomes a portal where users tap into programs or information through the Internet. However, the way that users access the information or applications is not… Continue reading

To add to this, where iPhone rumours looked to a certain iPhone 5 release this year, many case manufacturers were gearing up for the pre-order sales rush in the run up to Christmas.

Unfortunately for many, the iPhone 5 has yet to make an appearance and was instead replaced with the iPhone 4S. One Managing Director of a firm that makes iPad 2 cases and accessories stated that:

“The response has been luke-warm. Many consumers are still happy with their iPhone 4 and don’t understand why they… Continue reading
